ABOUT ME

Aloha! I'm Rachel Uda Murdock, creator of LDS Storytime.

I believe some of the most inspiring stories in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are the ones most people have never heard.

For years, I have been fascinated by the faith, sacrifice, miracles, and everyday discipleship of Latter-day Saints around the world. While many people are familiar with pioneer stories from Utah, the restored gospel has touched lives in nearly every nation on earth. Hidden throughout that history are remarkable stories of courage, conversion, perseverance, and faith.

Through LDS Storytime, I share uplifting stories from every corner of the globe, from early converts in Africa and the Pacific Islands to modern-day missionaries, pioneers, and ordinary members whose lives have been changed by Jesus Christ. My goal is to uncover forgotten stories, preserve faith-promoting experiences, and help others see the hand of God working among His children throughout the world.

I grew up in Utah and come from a diverse heritage that includes Japanese, Hawaiian, Native American, and European ancestry. I served a mission in the Japan Tokyo South Mission and later spent many years living in Hawaii. These experiences deepened my appreciation for different cultures and helped me see firsthand how the gospel of Jesus Christ unites people from every background. They also inspired my passion for discovering and sharing faith-filled stories from around the world.

Professionally, I have worked as a technical writer, author, and business owner. I also graduated from BYU–Idaho with a bachelor's degree in Professional Studies with an emphasis in Accounting and Business Leadership. These experiences taught me the value of research, accuracy, and clear communication. Those skills now help me uncover historical accounts, gather reliable sources, and present inspiring stories in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.

I am a wife and mother to three children and currently reside in North Idaho. Music has always been an important part of my life, and I enjoy serving as a choir pianist and organist in my ward. When I'm not researching stories, you'll usually find me working in my yard, traveling, or spending time with family.
